background experiment

Uploading this in scraps because it was sort of a dumb experiment and not very original at all, and because I need to stop spamming my gallery with Xenosaga fanart. :/

I recently scavenged some old encyclopedias and a German-English picture dictionary out of the trash at work, so I thought I'd try making a background pattern by scanning some of the pages. (Das Maschinenhaus apparently means "the turbine room" according to the dictionary. It kind of sounds more intimidating in German. D: )

And then, surprisingly enough, I drew Ziggy. It's not really a very good drawing of him, but I needed something to go with all the German text and pictures of machine parts, and he usually ends up being the victim of my weird art experiments anyway. -_-

I was also kind of trying to draw something in the style of western/superhero comics for a difference. I never really got into reading comic books, but I often flip through them when I'm shelving in that section, and I really like some of the artwork.

Oh, also, that rectangular thing in his right hand that looks like a giant cell phone battery? Yeah, that's supposed to be one of his weapons. :/ He's in the process of firing it at someone, except it looks like he got a bit distracted by the shiny thing attached to the end of his left arm, hence the brilliant DUUURRRRRR face. D:

I guess if I had a shiny robot hand I'd go "DURRR" and stare at it too. Also LEG ANATOMY FAIL LOL _{I can't draw his legs anymore ;-;}

Anyway, I committed this travesty in Photoshop. With apologies to Monolith and the makers of German-English picture dictionaries. :/
